How I mix a full band

The primary way I learned how to mix was watching professionals as an system tech for a large production company. I spent countless shows standing next to Audio Engineers from some of the biggest act in the US. In the down time, I would ask them as many questions I could. Then I would apply what I learned the next time I was at the console. … More How I mix a full band

Insight from The Cove Church’s, Michael Conda

The first time I went to The Cove Church I was blown away by the lighting. The team was worshiping to the song called The Way. In the middle of this song, there is a great musical break and then a BAMP moment when the band kicks back in. The song was great, but the lighting that went with the song just make the experience all the more impactful. Great lighting does this! At that moment, I knew I had to meet the guy who programed this lighting show. Let’s get plugged into leadership and meet the man behind the show and get some insight from him. … More Insight from The Cove Church’s, Michael Conda

Lead, to Change violence Part 1

When I was in elementary school I would wear a very stylish, bright orange camo looking hunting hat. I thought it was the coolest hat a kid could own. It was bright, loud and drew lots of attention. It was so awesome that nearly every day at recess, a group of kids took the hat from me and played a game of keep away. I reasoned that they really liked the hat as much as I did and that is why they wanted it so much. It wasn’t until my very astute brother pointed out, while I was crying about how I hated how they took my hat and wished they would get their own instead of taking mine, that they only took it because I would feverishly chase after them to get my hat back. Shortly, after I stopped chasing them around the school yard to get my hat back, and just left them alone, the hat thieves stopped their actions and moved on to other things. What can this story tell us about leading? Let’s get plugged into leadership to find out. … More Lead, to Change violence Part 1

Interview with Erie Young Adult’s, Dr. Nick Artman

In 2015, I was introduced to someone that, no matter how far we live apart, I will consider to be a friend. Nick Artman is an amazing guy, who’s heart is as big as they come. With in hours of meeting Nick, I knew that we were going to be great friends. In 2015, Nick, myself, and a small group of people went on a life changing road trip to Charlotte. We jammed in the hotel room on our guitars, wrote a song, and learned a ton! Nick is the perfect guy to help this community out. His expertise and background were super helpful to me as a leader, a musician, and a tech. Let’s get plugged into leadership to see how Nick can help us be better. … More Interview with Erie Young Adult’s, Dr. Nick Artman

Tabl-Yes or Tabl-No! Why I can’t live without a tablet when running sound!

Let me start by saying there is no replacement for a good team. Not only do you get the creative juices of more people than yourself, we were made to be in relationships and your team is a very important relationship. It took too long for me to realize that the true measure of a leader is not the number of followers, but how many leaders he is producing. Let’s get plugged into leadership and see how a tablet might help you no matter where your team is at. … More Tabl-Yes or Tabl-No! Why I can’t live without a tablet when running sound!

5 Ways to Build your Tech Team

You are a leader of a technical ministry. Chances are you are in this position because you have a good amount of technical skill. Perhaps you are a musician that knows a good deal about the sound system, you are in IT at your day job and are not afraid of computers, which made you the best choice, or maybe you are “Pro” that wants to use your gifts to serve the Lord at your church. What you did before isn’t as important as where you want to go. One thing is for sure, you can do more with a team than you can by yourself. Let’s get plugged into leadership and see how we can grow our team. … More 5 Ways to Build your Tech Team

My Resume SUCKS, but I do not!

Maybe like me, you struggle with self-worth every once and a while. Honestly, self-worth is something I have struggled with since middle school. This was compounded by the series of awful nicknames I had as a kid. Guitar nose, Ichabod Crain, and others didn’t help my self-worth. Despite being called some pretty terrible names in school, Jesus found me towards the end of my middle school career. Knowing that I was worth the death of Jesus Christ changed a lot for me. Sure people still made fun of me throughout school, and even after, but I pressed into my relationship with God the creator. … More My Resume SUCKS, but I do not!
